Preparing the Amazing Angle DVD

THE AMAZING ANGLE SWING TRAINING SYSTEM DVD

I am starting to really appreciate the hard work it takes to produce a piece of media that actually makes sense and has redeeming value.

The objective is of course to create a video production that will help my current and prospective students achieve golf greatness.

The video will incorporate the latest swing training methods, using the Amazing Angle to help feel and habituate swing positions and movements, and the greatest training drill I have experienced in my golfing life, the “line drill”, to improve your ability to “strike” the ball.

I don’t mind telling you that it was the very same material in the video that allowed one of my new students, on his Fourth lesson, to hit his #5 metal wood, consistently 200 yards, 5 times consecutively down the target line. For a new student who had never picked up a club previously, this was a fantastic break through.

So, back to the tedious task of describing in detail the intricacies of the,” change of direction” and “downswing”.

Not playing much golf personally these days. I have devoted my life to helping you to golf greatness.

Practice deliberately !

The Amazing Angle Swing Training System

I am excited to tell you about my new Amazing Angle Swing Training System.

I believe it is a comprehensive swing training and development system that all players can benefit from.

The Amazing Angle, as a swing training device has been developed over a period of 5 years during real training sessions with real students. It allows my students to experience the feel of effective movements and positions in their golf swings and eliminate the “killer” moves that don’t allow progress in their game.

The training system incorporates “ball striking” drills, that teach correct fundamentals of “impact”. Impact after all is the true essence of all great players ability to be great.

The good news, the Amazing Angle is easy to use, and will help you habituate consistent and effective swing movements and positions, anytime and anywhere. The price will be less than one golf lesson.

The system is also be designed to allow you to submit your video taped golf swing to me for a rigorous evaluation and personal swing development training program, with subsequent swing evaluations to check your progress.

The program is scheduled to roll out October 15, 2012. This program has been successfully helping my students and I know it will help you!

Please feel free to email any questions about the program to me personally at jkhpro@pga.com. Good luck and don’t forget to practice with a purpose!

The Open Championship

I love the “Open Championship”. Formerly known as the British Open. This is real golf, the way it should be played and the place it was invented. Look at those bunkers and that rough at Royal Lytham and St. Annes. Phil can’t find his ball. Now he knows how we all feel. I’m pulling for him.

Good news. FYI, ESPN is broadcasting the tournament all day long starting at 4:30 AM EST

Ain’t life great!

The top of the backswing

As we continue our description of the 5 “killer” movements and positions, I should reiterate the 2 previous “killers”.

1. Address position: if your setup is incorrect you have jeopardized the rest of your swing !
2. Move Away: If your move away is “too handsy”, and seriously “off plane”, with no engagement of an upper body coil, you have jeopardized the rest of your swing !

As the move away continues the left shoulder continues it’s downward and backward movement. We are building a powerful backswing by coiling upper body, maintaining the width of our swing by keeping arms extended, and keeping the body centered. Picture 1, below is a picture of an effective top of the backswing position. Clearly a deeply coiled position with no leakage in potential energy. A centered axis, maximum shoulder rotation and no breakdown of the arm and hand assembly.

Picture 2 below demonstrates the difference between an effective position and a broken down position with plenty of distance and directional control robbing, “killer potential”. No shoulder rotation, improper weight shift, and left arm breakdown, minimizing the width of the swing arc. The chances of making a good impact and ball strike from this top of the backswing position are “zero”.

Coming soon! Look for the new Amazing Angle instructional DVD. It will help you improve your top of the backswing position. Practice with a purpose !

David Haley in third place at the Ohio Amateur after 3 rounds.

Sorry, I had to take a little vacation this week in preparation for the 2012 Ohio Amateur Championship.

My nephew and number one student shot a 68 today in the 3rd round at Brookside CC, here in Columbus. The 4 under par round is added to two rounds of even par 72 to put him in 3rd place, 4 shots off the lead. It was a really good ball striking round with some good putting. A great finish, and it will be good to be in the last group tomorrow, on the final day of the tournament!

Final rounds are always interesting and exciting. I am looking forward to a great finish. After the final round, David flies back to Minnesota for the Minnesota Amateur Championship. He will soon be starting his senior years’ play at the University of Minn.

Good luck David Haley Jr. Stay tuned for tomorrow’s blog with all the details.

The Moveaway

There are several explanations about how you should begin your swing. Here is how I believe the action should start.

First of all, this is a most crucial time, because you can put yourself on a path to success or by default, get into a position that may guarantee a bad swing.

I believe that to promote maximum power and accuracy the movement should begin by moving the shoulder closest to the target, (front shoulder), down as it coils back. Early independent movement of your hands can disengage upper body core rotation, thus reducing the amount of potential energy that can be built. If you don’t load the gun you can’t shoot the gun.

One of the most common mistakes that I see with my students is starting the swing with hands and arms and never engaging the upper body core rotation, leaving them powerless and in a poor, uncoiled position at the top of the backswing.

The pictures demonstrate that when the clubhead drags back it is in a wide position outside your hands.

This is a power building move and will help get the club in a great position at the top to make a smooth downswing transition.

Practicing this “Moveaway” action will improve your golf swing !
